Who it is for
International students, locals, first-timers, and anyone who wants a day among people. You do not need to be fit, fast or a runner.
- Free. The AE sponsorship covers the event costs so nobody pays.
- Everyone. All fitness levels, all ages. Children welcome with a parent or carer.
- Walk, run or ride. Choose your distance: 5 km, 10 km, 15 km or 21 km.
- No pressure. Nobody is pushed to go faster. Nobody finishes alone.
The plan for the day
The order the club agreed on 3 November. Times can move a little on the day.
- 7:30 am. Arrive and warm up. Check in, get your number, stretch together.
- 8:00 am. Start. Your distance, your pace. Runners and walkers together.
- Until about 11:00 am. Move. Water stations on the route, marshals at the crossings.
- From 11:00 am. Food. Breakfast and lunch, cooked on site.
- From noon. Open activities. Board games, prizes, music, photos, and plenty of talking.
- 1:00 pm. Group discussion. A short, optional conversation about wellbeing.
- 1:30 pm. Awards. Everyone gets something. Finishers get a certificate and a gift.
- 2:00 pm. Music and socialising. Stay as long as you like.
What the sponsorship pays for
The marathon is the first big thing the $2,000 AE sponsorship pays for.
- $600 community fitness: the event itself: equipment, refreshments and the food for the day.
- $400 mental health awareness: the wellbeing sessions, the materials and the signage.
- $500 homelessness outreach: hygiene products, clothing and essential supplies we hand out and take out on our walks.
- $300 community engagement and inclusion: making sure people from different backgrounds can take part.
- $200 promotional materials and other running costs: posters, banners, signage.
Register now
Registration takes two minutes. The form opens on this page.
You need: your name, your contact details, an emergency contact, and a signature on the participation waiver.
We use your details for this event only: the run list, the emergency contact, and your certificate. We keep them for as long as the club needs them. Ask us to delete them any time: [email protected].
Still being confirmed
- The meeting point and venue. We are finalising the place, the City of Melbourne permit and the public liability insurance. As soon as it is settled we post it here and on Instagram.
- Food and drink. Provided on the day, including for people with dietary needs. Tell us on the registration form if we need to plan for something.
- Children. Welcome with a parent or carer, and they need a guardian on the form.
What to bring
- Water. We have stations on the route, but bring your own bottle.
- Comfortable shoes.
- Weather-appropriate layers. Melbourne in December can do all four seasons in one morning.
- Good energy and respect for other people.
